The Avery House is a Pre-Civil War home, built in 1848, located in Galena, Illinois.

Our small inn is a bed and breakfast, serving breakfast each morning to our guests. The Avery is quiet and cozy while also located within a five minute walk to Galena’s historic downtown district. Galena itself is located in an area full of ancient mountains and hills, with the Galena River running through it all. Outdoor activities are particularly popular here, including biking, walking trails, canoeing and kayaking, Our local ski resort offers an Alpine slide during the warmer months.

House Rules

Be respectful of other guests. You'll be able to come and go as you like, but please understand that other guests may be keeping different sleeping schedules.

Breakfast is served at 9am, unless previously arranged for another time. We can accommodate most dietary needs, but we must be made aware of any restrictions no later than 5pm the evening before.

Smoking and vaping of any kind are not permitted indoors. We do have a comfortable porch and gazebo for those activities with a view of our expansive garden and more.

We are both cannabis and LGBTQ friendly, and we ask that all guests are respectful of our views while staying with us.
