DENVER – Although marijuana is legal throughout the state of Colorado, many visitors hoping to indulge discover not all lodging is weed friendly.

The Colorado marijuana law lets hotels and private rentals decide whether they will accommodate pot smoking in their rooms, and many hotels are smoke-free, according to the Colorado Pot Guide.

Boulder ganjapreneurs Bud and Breakfast has a solution. Their online booking service connects weed-loving tourists with weed-friendly accommodations.

Bud and Breakfast works much like VRBO or other rental finders. Users set a destination and arrival and departure times to begin the search. Results can be sorted by price, number of bedrooms and other amenities.

Owners can also lease their properties through the site. Bud and Breakfast’s Twitter profile describes the startup as an Airbnb for marijuana enthusiasts.

The booking service is only available in states with legal weed and is active outside the US in Jamaica, The Netherlands and Uruguay.

Founder Sean Roby hopes the service goes beyond marijuana tourism.

“There are families with sick children looking for alternative treatments and adults who live with handicaps being treated with cannabis,” said Roby. “Bud and Breakfast makes it possible to find a comfortable setting, like a private home, to begin healing.”
