In September, I left Florida to embark on another cross country tour in cannabis, this time the focus was 420 friendly lodging. I traveled from Florida, to Michigan, to Missouri, then to Arizona all in the name of checking in and reviewing bud and breakfast listings. My first Arizona location on this trip was to Phoenix. Learn more about my experience below.

About Phoenix, Arizona

Phoenix is the capital of Arizona, and the most populated city in the state. Located in the southwestern region of the United States, Arizona sits in the middle of: California and Nevada (west of AZ), Utah and Colorado (north of AZ), New Mexico (east of AZ), and Mexico (south of AZ). This is the region of the United States that I call Mexico, because at one point, it was.

Visiting Phoenix means mountains, hiking, museums, botanical gardens in the desert, and sunshine all year long. They say the best time to visit is when it’s winter season everywhere else. Between November and April, temps are lowest in the 60’s, hottest in the 80’s. Visiting Phoenix can also mean cannabis since Arizona is an adult-use/recreational state.

Bud and Breakfast, South Mountain Resort Style Guest Home

This 420 friendly bnb is so pretty! It is a full one bedroom apartment (a second room is being added on), with a full kitchen, full bathroom, a huge bedroom, a spacious living room; it sits at the bottom of South Mountain, and is surrounded by fruit/citrus trees and views of South Mountain.

Guests checking in to this bud and breakfast will have/experience a pool, jacuzzi, golf, various outside areas to kick back and bbq, and guests have the option of adding on a rental car during their stay.

The hosts are amazing! They love providing a luxurious desert experience and when they are around, it’s all smiles. The energy all around is soothing and uplifting and I was grateful to catch up on rest in such a space.

My Experience at South Mountain Resort Style Guest Home

I landed in Phoenix to check into and experience this cannabis friendly bnb. I arrived on a Monday and was greeted by Blake, who is absolutely a beam of light. She showed me around the space, property, and South Mountain.

Blake loves what she does; it’s obvious without words. Stepping into the space made me smile; it’s so pretty. As a vegan that likes to cook, I was happy to see the full kitchen equipped with everything I needed to cook, even some seasonings.

The bedroom is huge with a view of sunrise and South Mountain, and the bathroom gives spa feels; double showerhead with a moonroof and can easily fit 4 people in there at once. The space has hard floors, art on the walls, very comfortable furniture, and consuming/smoking cannabis is allowed indoors.

I relaxed outside in the mornings before the temps rose, and spent the afternoons indoors, with visits to the pool to dip my legs in. I visited the top of South Mountain where I was able to see: Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale, Tempe, and Mesa. I recommend adding a visit to the top of this mountain to your plans. It is majestic!

I left here so rested and refreshed, and I won’t lie, spending time in this area gave me flashbacks to scenes of Waiting to Exhale. I remember watching that movie and seeing Phoenix in the background thinking: “one day I’ll experience taking in those views”. This visit was that ‘day’.I can’t wait to go back! To book your stay, head over to the Bud and Breakfast site. I guarantee you’ll enjoy kicking back in this B.I.H.

I want to thank my journey to Arizona sponsors:

  • GreenCore Specialty Insurance: an Illinois based insurance agency, protecting cannabis businesses all over the U.S.
  • Vaycay: take a little vaycay, not a trip, with these premium hemp/CBD/D8 products.

Both companies contributed to funding my journey to Arizona.
