Big Marijuana Progress From 2010 to 2019
The percentage of adults in favor of legalization has risen dramatically. Depending on the source you’re using, anywhere from 68% to 80% of Americans now support legalization of cannabis. The first Gallop poll asked adults if they were in favor of legalization in 1969, resulting in only 12% in favor. In 2015, the approval rate grew to 58% and the latest Gallop poll done in 2018, shows 66& of adults in favor of legalization.
Medical marijuana, which started in 1969 in California, is now available to be prescribed in 32 states, plus the District of Columbia, 4 out of 5 permanently inhabited US Territories. and Native American tribes are crushing it as well. Some states are, unfortunately, CBD only but anticipate legalization soon. NuWu has a drive-through, casino, tasting room for different strains, dispensary, restaurant and more. Next time you are in Las Vegas, take a side trip and visit Nuwu, open 24 hours a day for your shopping pleasure.
Adult-use cannabis went on sale in Colorado on January 1, 2014 at 8.m. followed by Washington at 8 a.m. Pacific time. The latest state to open for adult-use, or the “rec side” was Michigan. Have property there? List on Bud and Breakfast and get in now. According to this article from MLive.com, Michigan has brought in $3 million dollars in 2 weeks of rec sales.
The Future Decade
2019 brought the passing of the farm bill allowing farmers to grow hemp again, opening up a potentially huge market. Hemp can be used for so many things, from CBD to fabric, rope, food, building, etc and is easy to grow.
In 2018, Los Angeles Airport started allowing small amounts of pot through security.
In the past few years, there has been a tremendous resurgence of interest in psychedelics and “party drugs” such as Ketamine which are now being used therapeutically. Colorado decriminalized psilocybin mushrooms, and so has Berkeley with Oregon and Washington are right behind.
Along with the Farm Bill, the House of Representatives has been busy passing bills that protect banks and allow cannabis and hemp businesses to have bank accounts. No more dealing in cash only or having to worry about your bank account being shutdown. In November, the House approved a bill legalizing marijuana at the federal level and removing it as a Schedule 1 drug, the first time any bill featuring marijuana has passed.
We’re Dreaming of ….
Weedmas or High Holidays? Which one do you celebrate? Are you gifting or wishing? How about getting Dad some flower, mom concentrates, grandma would appreciate some CBD bath bombs or cream, and what for granddad? How about some medicated party-mix or other edibles? Make sure to have some games to play if you’re staying in, they’ll be especially fun after a “trip to the garage”. Ask your hosts if they have any of the above to offer guests, and owners if you do, market it and let people know. We can help you with that.
