If you are a medical marijuana patient, you probably know that there are considerable challenges facing you should you decide that you want to take a vacation. How to travel with your medical marijuana? What are the legal ways in which you can do this? What about if you cannot take your medication with you? Is it safe or sensible to go without? What about wherever you are staying? Even if you can get some weed while you are there, will the accommodation owner allow you to consume it?

Is it even legal to consume cannabis in the place to which you are going?

These are just some of the questions that any person traveling with medical marijuana might ask.

All these questions add to the stress of traveling in the first place — and that is on top of whatever condition you have that requires you use weed as medicine in the first place.

Tips on traveling with medical marijuana

1. Book with Bud and Breakfast

Bud and Breakfast offers cannabis-friendly accommodations all over the world. That means that if you use medical marijuana, you know that you can rent a place to stay in which you can consume it. So, that is at least one less thing to worry about.

2. Consider vacationing within your home state

If you are to stay in your home state, assuming that medical marijuana is legal there, you should not have any problems if you travel. Of course make sure that the accommodation that you book is cannabis friendly.

3. Do not travel with cannabis plants

Medical marijuana patients should never be tempted to travel with cannabis plants. Transportation of these plants is highly restricted — even in states where cannabis is legal both for medical and recreation.

4. If traveling out of state, do your homework

Even if you are a legit registered medical marijuana patient in your home state, you cannot assume that you can bring your cannabis with you into another state. You cannot assume that you will be able to register in that state either. In fact, you cannot assume anything. Check out the rules that apply to the state that you are traveling to.
