Thanksgiving is the time of year when we all give thanks for the good things in life: family, friends, LOLcats, and of course, cannabis. Why not make some cannabis treats for the holidays?

You’ll no doubt be spending Thanksgiving with family, friends, or both, so why not share some cannabis too. If you live in a state where marijuana is legal, you can do this! If you don’t you should consider booking a cannabis-friendly accommodation for next year and you can plan on turning Thanksgiving into a cannabis vacation.

Below you will find a couple of festive uses for cannabutter, and at the bottom of this post is a cannabutter recipe for those of you who want to make your own.

Cannabutter Gravybrown_gravy_3

Yes, this is really a thing. You can have cannabis infused gravy on your Turkey this Thanksgiving!

How to make it:

  • 1 cup of gravy
  • 1/2 tablespoon of cannabutter

Simply mix the gravy with the cannabutter in a small saucepan on the stove. Make sure that the heat is low so that it doesn’t boil over. Stir and heat until the butter is mixed in to the gravy.

Pour the gravy over your favorite meal, and enjoy.

Cannabutter Mash

  • 2 cups of mash potato
  • 1/2 tablespoon of cannabutter

Warm the mash and stir in the cannabutter. Delicious!

Remember, if you are having cannabutter gravy with your mash, make sure that you adjust the quantities so that you don’t over consume.

How to make cannabutter:Cannabutter1

  • 1 ounce of cannabis (dried, buds and trim)
  • 1 pound of butter (unsalted)
  • a strainer and cheesecloth
  • 2 pots (large)
  • Saucepan
  • Glass jars with tight lids to store.
  1. Place 6 cups of water in a large pot and put the cannabis in too.
  2. Simmer over a low heat for an hour. Stir every ten mins.
  3. Add the butter and return to the heat and allow to simmer.
  4. Simmer gently for 2 hours.
  5. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely. This takes a long time, so it is best if you can leave it in a cool place overnight.
  6. Reheat and allow to cool completely again if you want a more potent butter—optional.
  7. Warm the mixture a little, and then pass it through the cheesecloth to strain it. Strain the mixture by getting a strianer and lining it with your cheesecloth. Then pour the hot mixture into that and catch it with your other pot. The cannabis will separate from the butter. You will end up with cannabis in the cheesecloth, and butter in your second pot.
  8. Let the butter cool.
  9. Once cool, put it in the fridge.
  10. The butter will separate from the water, and you will be left with a green colored cannabis butter.
  11. Remove the butter from the water, and then put it in a saucepan and melt it so that it joins together, then you can put it in a glass container and store in the fridge.

Remember, consume responsibly. Do not consume more than 1/2 tablespoon of cannabutter per person.
